RANKED: The 15 Worst School Districts in Idaho
When it comes to the education of our kids in Idaho, there aren’t any participation trophies. The kids are either getting a good education or we are failing them.
Every child across the state deserves a great education (whether they want it or not) but that isn’t happening. Many schools in Idaho are doing an amazing job but quite a few are in need of improvement.
The 15 Worst School Districts in Idaho and the 5 Best
We gathered data from the Niche website to determine which school districts are earning passing grades and which are failing. The good news is that all Idaho school districts would graduate if the ‘Cs get degrees’ saying is true. There isn’t a district that earned lower than a C- on the list.
We’ve highlighted the lowest-ranked school districts, leaving out any that had less than 5 schools in the district to better understand the state as a whole. Of the bigger cities doing a good job at educating kids, West Ada School District beat the Boise School District - but both earned A- grades. In a surprise outcome, the Pocatello School District earned a high B+ while Bonneville Joint School District and Twin Falls School District squeaked by with B grades.

To determine which school districts are the worst, Niche used data from parent and student reviews, test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, and teacher quality.
Our list above eliminated school districts with less than 5 schools in the district, had we kept all schools in the data pool these would be the 10 worst in Idaho. Districts not on the original list are highlighted.
