Walmart Broccoli Recall in WA, ID, and UT Updated to ‘Deadly’
The parent company, Braga Fresh, originally announced a recall voluntarily due to a possible health risk on December 27th, 2024. It was published by the FDA a few days later, on December 31st, and was recently given an update in an enforcement report published a full month after the initial announcement.
In the notice issued on January 27th, 2025, the FDA gave the recall their highest level of danger label - Class I. The recall includes broccoli florets sold in 20 states, including Idaho, Utah, California, and Washington.
The recall was issued for 5,918 cases (6x12oz/case) of washed and ready-to-eat 12oz Marketside Broccoli Florets with a best-if-used-by date of Dec 10, 2024. The bags of broccoli will have the UPC code 6 81131 32884 5 on the back of the bag and lot code BFFG327A6 on the front of the bag.
Even though the ‘best if used by date’ has already passed, the recall notes that some consumers may have frozen bags of the recalled broccoli unused in their homes.
