The Idaho Transportation Department has posted a photo and video of the cleanup crew at a huge rockslide that happened near Stanley. The rockslide avalanche is blocking the road on US 21 at mile marker 87 between Sourdough and Banner Summit.

The avalanche has forced the closure of the highway between mile markers 85 to 105, which is from Eight Mile Creek to Banner Summit. There is also bridge construction happening a few miles to the southwest of the avalanche in Lowman near the South Fork Payette River.

Video of the cleanup crew at the site of the avalanche was shared by the Idaho Transportation Department on social media, along with a message for travelers to avoid the area and to check Idaho 511 for updates.

Currently Idaho 511 reports:

SH-21 from milepost 85 to 105, Eight Mile Creek to Banner Summit. The highway remains closed until further notice.

You can check the Idaho 511 report online or on their app.

If you ignore the fact that this was a dangerous landslide and is causing road issues, the picture shared by ITD is actually really beautiful. The snow, green pines, and the mist hovering in the trees in the background would almost make for a nice Christmas card.
