Why Idaho Flags Are at Half Staff and Why They Won’t Be on Monday
I was driving around town with my mom recently and she noticed that all the flags are lowered to half staff. She didn’t know why and wondered what tragedy had happened that she didn’t hear about.
Flags are usually lowered when a tragic US or world event happens, and they are currently lowered for the death of a former president. But they will go back to normal for one day to honor another great president.
Governor Orders Change to Idaho Flags For One Day Next Week
American Flags flown across the United States have been lowered to half-staff since the beginning of the year to honor the life of President Jimmy Carter who passed away on December 29th. In Idaho the order for half staff flag status remains in effect until sunset on January 28th, with the exception of one day next week.
In honor of the inauguration of President Donald Trump on January 20th, the Governor of Idaho has ordered that all flags (American and State) be raised to full staff from sunrise until sunset. If you keep your flag up at night with a light on it, you should lower it to half staff after sunset on the 20th.
President Trump will become the 47th President of the United States following his inauguration on January 20th. The ceremony has been moved indoors due to weather concerns.
President Trump also served as the 45th President of the US from 2017 to 2021.
President Carter was the 39th President of the US and served from 1977 to 1981. Carter was known as a politician and humanitarian earning the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts.
