Idaho had an extremely deadly year in 2024 on its highways. There were nearly 2 dozen fatal motorcycle crashes, many deadly car accidents, and the Idaho State Police reported 24 semi-truck accidents that resulted in dozens of fatalities.

Additionally, ISP reported 22 non-fatal semi-truck accidents last year.

24 Fatal and 22 Injury Semi Truck Accidents Reported on Idaho Highways in 2024

The 2024 year started with 2 fatal accidents and 3 injury accidents involving semi-trucks in the first month. The first happened on January 5th when a teen driver crossed the center line near the Oregon border on US95 and crashed into a Peterbilt truck. The teen driver was pronounced dead at the scene. On the 8th, a semi-truck collided with an Idaho Transportation Department vehicle on I86 in Bannock County.

The second fatal semi-involved accident happened a few weeks later on January 24th in Idaho Falls. A young driver hit a Freightliner pulling a propane trailer which resulted in a fiery crash and the death of the young driver.

There were 2 injury accidents reported on January 17th where semi-trucks hit snowplows on Idaho roads. Throughout the year ISP reported 24 fatal semi-involved accidents, but there were more deaths as some of the accidents had multiple fatalities.
