STORY UPDATE 12/3/24: This story has been updated to clarify ownership of Shake Out in Twin Falls and to separate the future of the restaurant and a new food truck venture. Craig and Cherry Myhre have been the tenants operating the Shake Out restaurant and they have plans to operate the Homebase Burger Shack, a food truck. The owners of the Shake Out restaurant are working to reopen the location on Kimberly Road in Twin Falls as soon as possible and appreciate your patience and support.

Shake Out in Twin Falls Announces Indefinite Closure

On social media, tenant operators of Shake Out, a long-time Twin Falls staple for burgers, fries, and shakes, announced they would temporarily close the doors of the restaurant while they transition to a new business model. The announcement (which appears to have been removed or hidden since this story was originally posted) outlines a new direction for the tenants as they leave the Shake Out and the plans the owners have for the reopening of the restaurant.

A Longtime Favorite in Twin Falls

For decades, Shake Out has been a go-to spot in Twin Falls, known for its extensive menu of shakes ranging from thick to thin, alongside classic burgers and fries. The restaurant has built a loyal customer base, many of whom were surprised by the sudden closure announcement.

Initially, Shake Out announced they were closed Thanksgiving week. However, the tenants have since clarified that the closure will be indefinite, as they shift focus to a new business venture and the owners work to reopen.

The Official Social Media Announcement

In their social media post, the tenant operators shared the following statement:

“It is with disappointment that we announce the closure of Shake Out, formerly operated by Craig and Cherry Myhre. Despite our efforts, the business was unable to withstand the challenges posed by road construction and the resultant operational costs. However, Shake Out will resume operations under new ownership. We are excited to unveil our food truck venture, Homebase Burger Shack, in Twin Falls and surrounding areas. Our new brand and menu will feature a mix of local favorites and innovative food items, with catering services and delivery options available through DoorDash and Uber Eats. We appreciate your loyalty and support during this transition and encourage you to continue supporting local businesses.”

A New Chapter: Homebase Burger Shack

While Shake Out’s closure is disappointing to many, the recent business operators are not stepping away from the food industry entirely. Instead, they have launched a food truck called Homebase Burger Shack. This new venture will serve a combination of Shake Out favorites and new menu items, with a focus on catering, delivery, and mobile operations.

Fans can follow Homebase Burger Shack on Facebook for updates, including daily operating locations, which will begin to roll out as early as next week. Additionally, the new food truck will offer delivery through DoorDash and Uber Eats.

Shake Out's Future Under Operational Changes

The Myhre's also confirmed that Shake Out itself will continue under the original ownership. We also received a call from the owners today (12/3/24) where they verified plans to reopen as soon as they can. However, no official timeline has been announced online for its reopening or further details about what changes, if any, will come to the restaurant. The website and Facebook pages for Shake Out are inactive.

Supporting Local Businesses

The couple who had been operating Shake Out expressed their gratitude for the loyalty and support of their customers. They also encouraged the community to continue supporting local businesses during this transitional period.

We'll continue to follow announcements made by Shake Out as to when the brick-and-mortar location intends to reopen under the original ownership.
