About Magic Valley 911 Memorial: An awe-inspiring event with humble beginnings

A family event where "all could stand on the Perrine Bridge... and join together in a display of patriotism", has quickly become one of the Twin Falls Area's most heartwarming and awe-inspiring events. The annual 911 Memorial event is set to offer up another year of food, fellowship, honor, and remembrance for the fallen heroes of the 911 tragedy.

Friday, September 6, 2024 - Flag Reveal at Twin Falls High School Homecoming

Last year, the Magic Valley 911 Memorial event was able to obtain its very own flag, thanks to a $30k donation made by Giltner. Seeing a giant 11,700 square-foot flag majestically draped across the Snake River Canyon is debatably the highlight of the event, and certainly the most visually stunning. But there's something to be said for grasping the sheer size and of the flag seeing it up close. The 911 Memorial Event is hosting a unveiling of the flag at the Twin Falls homecoming game on Friday, September 6, 2024.

September 10, 2024 - 5:00 pm - Flag walk across the Snake River Canyon

On September 10, at 5:00 pm you can join other Twin Falls area community members and help walk the American flag across the Perrine Bridge in honor of patriot's mental health awareness. Not only is this a spectacle to watch, but you also have the honor of participating in this event. If you want to help, you can register on the Magic Valley 911 Memorial Website.

Hundreds of people attended and participated in the 2023 walk. You can see photos from the event here

Parking is available either in the shops over by Best Buy or west of Blue Lakes at Pet Smart and Dick's Sporting Goods. It's a close walk to the visitors center from either lot. Accessible parking will be available at the event and those are expected to fill up very fast. If you need assistance, you can park in either of the parking areas, and volunteer-driven carts will shuttle you to and from the main event.

Along with a beautiful view of the 11,000 + square foot flag, the event will feature an Idaho Air Guard Blackhawk flyover, a 21-gun salute, a band, and food vendors. Families are encouraged to attend as we come together as a community, remember those who have fallen, and spread patriotism with our fellow Americans.

The flag will continue to span the canyon for several days following the event in honor of the various public service branches.

A Word About Drones at the Event

Many of you have drones that you'll be flying to capture amazing footage of the flag. The Magic Valley 911 Committee has just a couple of notes about drones during the event.

Drones are prohibited from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm in the area of the event. The Blackhawk flyover will not be able to take place if drones are in the air.

Post air restriction, you should take care not to fly your drone too close to the flag. It's big and moves faster than you might think in Idaho winds. Not only could it potentially damage or destroy your drone, you could end up permanently damaging the flag.

Help With Security Is Appreciated

If you see anything strange, call the police. There is extra security watching the flag 24/7. But if you see anything out of the ordinary, call 911.

Military Vehicles Driving Through Twin: It's All Part of the Event

On Wednesday, the Idaho Army National Guard will be driving two military vehicles with a police escort through Twin Falls at around 2pm. This is all to show support for the event.
