Boise State is getting mentioned a LOT in the transfer portal today and unfortunately for Bronco fans--it isn't becacuse the team landed a big time recruit. They've officially lost one.

Drew Fielder, a stud on the basketball court that came to Boise State from Georgetown University last year, is on the move again. This time, to one of the biggest athletic programs in the nation.

The announcement came quickly on social media:

Despite a rough season for Boise State basketball, Fielder was a star a racked up some serious stats for the Broncos--win or lose.

Known best for Football, Nate Oats, head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide, has done an amazing job with that basketball program, making it a contender for a national title every year under his watch.  Boise to Bama? That's a big deal.

Fans and 'experts' can rabbit-hole on WHY Fielder decided to leave Boise State all they want, but there is no denying the 'NIL discrepancy' between Boise State and Alabama. Millions of dollars separate the two programs and while it may seem 'unfair', it's a reality of college athletics at the moment.

Even more interesting? By simply stealing Fielder from Boise State, Alabama as a whole shot up the transfer portal rankings on a national scale:

To be honest, fans were brutal on this team--criticizing nearly everything from Coach Rice, down...but did they realize what kind of a stud they had on their hands?

As the Broncos prepare for their new life in the PAC-12--a world which will be dominated by national blue-blood, Gonzaga, they're going to have some big shoes to fill.

Boise State's Most Underappreciated Star

Boise State seems to mean "football" for most, right? On a national stage, after all, it's the blue turf and the success that the Broncos have had on it that made the university a household name. What happens on the hardwood, however, is far from appreciated at the level that it should be. Leon Rice came to Boise State as a blessing from one of the most powerful basketball programs in the nation: Gonzaga University. Now, the winningest basketball coach in the history of the school seems to take immediate heat if the Broncos aren't in the Final Four. Spoiled by wins on the football field, fans seem to expect the same of the basketball program but when the investment in basketball is so much less than football--can you really have these types of expectations!?
